About My Clients
I have five years of experience working with culturally diverse school-aged children (5-18), and enjoy working not only with the child/adolescent but also providing support and coaching for the parents/caregivers. I also started to work with adult population with Depression, Anxiety, marital conflicts or family relationship issues 2 year ago.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Illinois and I am bilingual in English and Mandarin. I earned my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University (CA) and I completed a pre-doctoral internship at Oakes Children’s Center in San Francisco, CA. Prior to working for Lifespan Counseling and Psychological Services, I worked at Wellnest LA, a community mental health agency and provided intake assessments and therapy services with diverse clients of all ages. My style is warm, practical and straightforward. I specialize in using the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy(CBT) and Family System Theory to address Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, and relational conflicts with family members and teachers. I also use questionaires to monitor treatment outcomes and communicate frequently with parents/caregivers to gather feedback and modify treatment plan.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am always open-minded and humble to learn from my client regarding their own background. I believe you can be anything you want as long as you are not afraid to work hard and encounter obstacles from various circumstances. I received training in graduate school regarding Cultural Diversity issues and I have also worked with colleagues and clients from the LGBTQ community. My previous job in the community mental health clinics allowed me to work with clients that are predominantly African Americans and Hispanic Americans with limited financial and educational resources. And I am glad I can offer my professional services to people of all color, sexual orientations, and economical backgrounds.
