About My Clients
My clients are from all walks of life. I specialize in Anxiety, Depression, Substance use and suicidal ideation. I have worked in inpatient treatment settings for substance abuse and dual diagnosis and for the University of Utah Crisis intervention team. I love working with young adults who are navigating transitions. I am BIPOC and love working with BIPOC patients. I am LGBTQIA friendly and affirming.
My Background and Approach
I have learned from the best Social Work program in the country that our therapeutic alliance is the most important determinant of success for you. As a practitioner, the most important thing I can bring to a therapeutic relationship is authenticity. I am skilled in working with and helping people who are facing a variety of challenges. My therapy practice is individualized and seeks to build on your internal strengths. I am here to meet you where you are and help guide you to your mental health goals. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) used for building emotion regulation skills. I have worked in a variety of settings with the bulk of my experience assisting individuals with trauma, depression, anxiety, drug and alcohol use, and legal issues.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an avid outdoors athlete. I love rock climbing, trail running, hiking and back country skiing. I am from Oregon and am bi-racial Japanese American and White. I am spiritual, but not religious. I am not LDS, but have a number of patients who identify as LDS. I would consider myself to be open to all types of thoughts. I believe very strongly in racial justice and Black Lives Matter. Everyone no matter your beliefs can benefit from therapy. I am here to meet you where you are at. The biggest thing I bring to a clinical relationship is my authentic self. Please feel free to reach out. I would love to see if you would be a good fit for my practice.
