About My Clients
I specialize in EMDR (processing of traumatic memories), Parts Work influenced by Internal Family Systems (conceives humans as a system of protective inner parts lead by a core Self), and Mindfulness-Based Somatic Therapy (emotions/sensations held in the body). I also utilize Relational Life Therapy, Contemplative Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am passionate about healing trauma. I offer in-person and Telehealth video sessions in North Carolina.
My Background and Approach
I see counseling as a practice of assisted self-discovery. Awareness of the present moment, attention to emotions and sensations in the body, and mindful witnessing of parts and thoughts are at the heart of my practice. My approach to counseling is compassionate and non-judgmental, and I provide a safe space for you to turn toward your experience rather than away. A whole body-mind mindfulness-based somatic approach is much more effective than talk therapy alone. I am passionate about helping others overcome trauma. My practice is inclusive and welcoming to all. I draw from somatic, humanistic, and existential theories to orient our work, and also utilize a variety of techniques including EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Somatic, Hakomi, Contemplative Psychotherapy, Person-Centered (Rogerian) Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
