About My Clients
My clients tend to be people who are curious, feel deeply, have some (or many) views that differ from their family members, have a desire to break dysfunctional patterns, and are committed to creating a meaningful life for themselves. One that feels safe, allows them to be fully authentic, and includes a sense of belonging through connection to others. They're often people with high expectations for themselves, who do a lot for everyone else while carrying their own unseen difficulties and pain.
My Background and Approach
I take a modern holistic approach to mental health that addresses all of the factors impacting wellbeing. Using EMDR and other modalities I help clients heal from trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, navigate life transitions, and cope effectively with stress. I also work with those transitioning out of high demand religions, redefining their spirituality, or deconstructing their faith. I love what I do, and I hope you'll feel that in our work together. My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and attachment-focused. I strive to create an emotionally safe environment in which to explore the presenting issues, process difficult emotions, identify strengths, gain tools, and build resilience. I also embrace humor as a part of the therapy process- there might be laughter as we explore the awkwardness and beauty of the human experience. It's my goal that therapy will allow you to know yourself more deeply and gain confidence in who you are and what you need to live authentically.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It takes courage to be vulnerable and strength to examine what's painful or uncomfortable. I know what it's like to be the client as I've done (and continue to do) my own work. I'm familiar with the discomfort that comes from growth and change, and I am here to support you. It's important to me to provide a sense of safety and warmth, and to be relatable and competent as we navigate this inner work together. I'll be there to remind you that there is reason to be hopeful and optimistic about the person you are on the path to becoming. I believe in a therapeutic relationship where I am always honest with you, curious to learn about you and with you, and where I am responsible for earning your trust and building emotional safety in our work. I strive to be an active ally to BIPOC and the LGBTQ+ community and continue to educate myself in order to create safety for my clients. I welcome clients of all races, faiths, sexual orientations, gender identities, and cultural backgrounds.
