About My Clients
1 in 5 birthing people experience a perinatal mood disorder like anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD or psychosis during pregnancy or postpartum. Many women experience loss, traumatic births, infertility and other hard things. These are my clients. These are the people I help. I also have experience working with birthing people and their partners who identify as non-binary, trans or who are in non traditional relationships (polyamory, etc.).
My Approach to Helping
After my own difficult journey into motherhood with postpartum anxiety and OCD paired with learning about what it means to be a highly sensitive mama - I knew I had to create a therapy practice dedicated to helping moms during pregnancy, postpartum and early motherhood. I have specialized training from Postpartum Support International, 1000s of hours of reading and research & my own personal healing journey that influence my approach to helping each of my clients. I utilize a combination of mindfulness practices, acceptance and commitment therapy and psycho-edcuation about mental health, coping & relationships to help you create a life and motherhood where you feel calm, confident & connected with yourself and your family. I can help you. You’re not alone. You’ve come to the right place. You can feel better. You can be more present. You can actually enjoy your motherhood instead of wanting to run away and hide. It’s all within you.
My Values as a Therapist
I believe that all people are worthy of respect. I believe you alone know what is right for you and for your family and I am here as your guide to help you explore and try out new things to help. I believe we are all on a healing journey throughout our lives and there is no end to growth. I am passionate about racial equality. I am in an interracial marriage myself and the mama to a bi-racial baby boy which has drastically opened by eyes to all of the work that still needs to be done in the name of racial equality in the U.S. I am passionate about gender equality. I speak a lot about working with women and moms as this is how most of my client's identify - I also have experience working with birthing people and their partners who identify as non-binary, trans or who are in non traditional relationships (polyamory, etc.). If you want to learn more about how working together can help you create a happier less stressful life while raising children, reach out.
