About My Clients
If you have experienced trauma at any point in your life, I would love to meet with you and witness your story. I see people that have experienced sexual abuse, traumatic pregnancy or birth, fertility struggles, NICU families, secondary trauma, and grief & perinatal loss. These experiences can happen to anyone no matter their age, race, gender/gender identity, faith, sexuality, religious beliefs, income level, cognitive or physical ability, or body size.
My Background and Approach
I use a variety of trauma-informed techniques in session including: play therapy, sandtray therapy, EMDR, Trauma Conscious Yoga Method, TF-CBT, and other expressive arts. We can use any of these techniques or just sit and talk. You may have heard about some of these interventions or you many not have. I will be happy to explain each of these and how previous clients have responded to these as part of their trauma healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In my practice I work with people from several ages, backgrounds, cultures, races, sexual & gender identities, body sizes, abilities and faiths. I believe that your cultural identity is very important and this is something I want to explore and learn about you as we begin your healing journey. While I am not able to walk exactly in your shoes because we have different experiences and upbringings, I will always approach learning about you with curiosity, validation, and an open heart. You are always welcome to share how your experience as a marginalized person impacts your mental health and I will continue to have a working knowledge around the experiences of oppressed persons so you do not feel the need to expend your emotional labor to educate me. I will also continue to work hard to be aware of how my privileges impact my own experiences and culture and your experience as well as our therapeutic relationship.
