Smart successful adults & older adolescents who are struggling with anxiety - to the point they are feeling uncomfortable, having trouble making decisions or see their ability to concentrate and work sliding away. Anxiety comes out of a lot of felt experiences: grief, loss, effects of trauma, medical conditions & illnesses, imposter syndrome, abuse; and show up in a lot of different ways: compulsive behaviors, trouble sleeping, panic attacks, pain, stomach upset, and self-doubt. My Background and Approach
I am not your usual therapist who asks you to recount your entire life story and every painful moment in it. Brain-based therapies focus on how you are feeling today and organically resolve issues of the past. Most of my work is focused on grief and loss & trauma - big "T"rauma and little "t"rauma. I don't view anyone as broken. I help you understand how life experience and the environment you grew up in and live in today may be impacting your nervous system. Then I help it to calm down so you can move in the direction you want to go in life rather than being hijacked by strong emotions and sensations that pull you off the course you want to take. I offer a free 30 minute session to learn more about me, how I work, and whether it feels like a good fit for us to work together. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
People have a great capacity to heal, grow and change with and despite their wounds, their self-doubt, and whatever negative messages society has handed them. I am a social worker at heart and I am actively involved in and concerned with social justice issues across the spectrum of human need and worth & these issues matter in therapy sessions too. I do not hold tightly to any one belief system in terms of religion although I have studied a number of them. I choose to view this world through the context of a multiverse so I don't see much value in choosing sides. I am a science geek from way back and yet, I can still go a little "woo-woo" for those who need more energetic support. It all depends on you. I am just there to support you toward a life of greater ease in your mind and body.
