About My Clients
My practice is considered a general psychiatric nursing practice, which means I provide medication management for clients struggling with most psychiatric disorders. I commonly treat mood disorders like depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and schizophrenia. Additionally, I am comfortable working with clients facing post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, substance use disorders, and eating disorders.
My Background and Approach
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who is board certified (PMHNP-BC) in family psychiatric nursing. I have a Master’s Degree in Nursing and additional certification to function as a nurse practitioner. I will approach every interaction with you as a privilege and honor to be invited to a vulnerable moment in your life. I will respect you for the life story you bring to our work together and I view my role as a partner in your care. My role in your healing process is being the person who provides the knowledge to empower you to make decisions and to choose the best tools. We will work neurochemically and physiologically combined with your other work in therapy, lifestyle changes, support systems, exercise, etc to improve your circumstances. Together we will determine goals of treatment and problem solve a pathway to improved health.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Psychiatric disorders are multi-factorial and for only a very limited number of clients will a medication resolve symptoms completely. Psychiatric disorders, similar to other medical disorders, are interconnected with anatomy, physiology, genetics, emotions, nutrition, activity, life circumstances, spirituality… and more.
