About My Clients
For the past eleven years, I have worked with the disabled, aged, and dying to work through chronic pain and illness, life change, end of life anxiety, loss, and grief. Given my clinical background and interest in medicine, I have experience with medication management and the use of nutrition and herbal supplements to help improve physical health and mental health. I also integrate alternative treatment options such as spiritual practices to help my clients cope with emotional and physical pain.
My Background and Approach
I finished a pre-medicine curriculum and a Masters in Counseling and Guidance. I also have a Masters in Industrial Organizational Psychology. Having recovered from my own health issues, I understand the effects of physical health on emotional well-being. I work with clients to try and provide strategies for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness. As a certified mental health integrative medicine provider, I understand the physiological processes that affect mental and emotional wellness. However, I am not limited by the constraints of an allopathic approach. I believe in utilizing both pharmaceutical and natural interventions to promote wellness. Furthermore, I believe that the mind has the power to heal pain. I try to help clients identify and shift cognitive distortions to help them maintain realistic expectations. While presently focused, one can face stressors head-on, not in an avoidant stance. Therefore, being presently focused is crucial to my work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I particularly enjoy working with brain injury survivors and advocate for the well-being of the disabled, elderly, and injured Veterans. I understand the struggles of people who experience chronic pain, and I work to help others manage their pain without the use of opioids.
