About My Clients
I have learned that no two minds think alike. Whether you need a secure space to speak or can’t quit find the words and your body is showing signs of distress; irritability, interrupted sleep, racing heart, stomach/ headaches, and reoccurring thoughts we can process together to find your own meanings, patterns, and authenticity to find relief and understanding.
My Background and Approach
I initially received my degree in bilingual education while living with and being a liaison for international students. After being a teacher in France for 3 years, and in and near Chicago for 5 years , I decided to be a school counselor for an elementary in a culturally mixed section on the west side of Chicago. I worked with families of truly different backgrounds: racial, economic, cultural, religious, and social. I took this a step further to specialize and train in the symptoms of depression/anxiety often caused by a crisis, loss, search for identity, life transitions, and several others. I use somatic therapy methods, EMDR and Reiki, visual arts, movement, and Gottman Relationship therapy for those who struggle with words and those who would like to process their words for growth. I focus on guiding people to make decisions and create their own understanding of their belief systems and values.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I was raised to accept and embrace the in-betweens and the complex. I believe that one’s thoughts become real and manifest within their bodies. In my past positions, I created clubs for the LGBTQ community at schools, book clubs for discussions on race and culture. The norm in my family was a mix of cultures, races and nationalities, and there were gender changes, and name changes. I have attended many protests that promote safety and acceptance of peoples differences. Things are always changing and I tend to embrace this with curiosity.
