I'm a licensed clinical social worker with a masters in social work and an additional masters in special education.
Clinical Social Worker in Denver, CO
I've worked with parents/caregivers of kids ages 0-18. Parenting sessions can be just the two of us or family sessions. Parenting work can focus on behavior prevention/management, creating routines, improving communication/connection, or even stress reduction for you as the caregiver.
I've worked with kids both as a therapist and a teacher and truly understand children's developmental needs. I specialize in working with kids (ages 0-18) with special needs, mental health issues, or both.
I've worked with kids and adults all over the Autism Spectrum from toddlers through adulthood. ASD is something that is a unique experience to each individual, so in treatment, we focus on the goals that are important to you.
I have training and experience in providing family therapy in the following areas: improving communication, improving attachment and connection, behavior modification, and conflict resolution.
I have training and experience in providing play therapy for children ages 0-12 and utilize some play therapy activities with teenagers as well. Play can even be utilized for adults!
I am trained and certified as a CBT therapist and utilize CBT with adult, adolescent, and some child clients.
I believe trauma informed care is the best tool to help all clients, not just those who have trauma histories, because it's all about individualized care and giving people room to be human. It's about recognizing that we all make mistakes and there's no one right or wrong way of doing something. I have extensive experience in treating children and adults with trauma histories and implementing trauma informed care practices into the school setting.
I have both personal and professional knowledge of ADHD and how it impacts one's day to day life. I have ADHD, and used to work with many students with ADHD when I was teacher, so I understand how it typically shows up for people at home, in school, in social situations, and at work.
I use play therapy to treat trauma in children/teens, and EMDR and talk therapy to treat trauma in teens and adults. Just like anything else in life, trauma impacts people differently, so a big piece of treatment is assessing where you're at and where you'd like to be.
I am trained to use EMDR to treat trauma and have found that this modality can be helpful even if you don't have a significant trauma history. EMDR can be a great tool for accessing subconscious core beliefs about oneself and making triggering situations less emotionally charged.
