As a therapist trained in EMDR and trauma work I believe that addiction is about more than substance abuse. I have worked at Warner Park Recovery Center for almost two years as a primary therapist. I have worked extensively with clients who are dealing with both substance use issues and dual diagnosis.
The body stores valuable information that the conscious mind may not be entirely aware of. This includes personal trauma as well as systemic oppression. Bringing more presence and awareness to the body allows for the healing of past-trauma, restoring vitality, cultivating deeper self-trust and authenticity.
Depression can feel never-ending, suffocating and utterly hopeless. Worst of all it leaves you feeling completely isolated and alone. Together, we can work on healing the root causes of these symptoms to achieve a felt sense of peace and joy that may otherwise have seemed impossible.
My therapeutic orientation is rooted in depth psychology. This umbrella term covers different psychodynamic schools such as Jungian, object relations, attachment theory, and relational theory. My focus remains on the individuality of the client, their circumstances and our relationship based on trust and safety.
I am fully trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This is an evidenced based technique used to treat both acute and complex trauma. I have used this treatment for 5 years and have seen incredible results.
I believe that healing includes both the mind and the body and the relationship between the two.
