About My Clients
Typically I work with clients who have a history of traumatic relationships, causing disruption in their ability to thrive, however this is not a pre-requisite to working together. Many clients who reach out suffer from symptoms including hyper-vigilance, inattentiveness, dissociation, depression, low-self worth, mood influx, isolation and social anxiety. Whether you are seeking long-term treatment or brief support, I will provide a safe space for us to process ongoing or anticipated challenges.
My Background and Approach
I graduated with a Masters Degree in Counseling from Western Michigan University in 2007 and traveled around the country, before coming to Portland in 2015. After some time working in community settings as a case manager and social worker, I decided to pursue more niched individual counseling, most commonly with men and women ages 18-40. I’ve been in practice since 2018, assisting clients throughout the Portland area achieve their personal and professional goals. Most commonly I treat those in life transitions, struggling with anxiety, depression and traumatic pasts. The essence of my work is to facilitate self-growth by helping you to understand any personal setbacks, identify personal values and incorporate them, so you may begin to overcome these setbacks with confidence. I specialize in holistic psychoanalysis, Cognitive Behavioral treatment, trauma-processing, implementing personalized plans and providing tools to guide you forward and achieve your desired goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Much of my client focus has been with depression, anxiety, trauma-processing, career development and assisting clients through life transitions due to personal experience in these areas. I've come to find that many people over the lifespan suffer with mental health setbacks and strongly believe everyone has the ability to overcome these struggles to create their ideal life. I believe psychoanalysis and drawing upon individual strengths, allow power in the ability to overcome. Through rapport and collaboration, I’ve helped many individuals gain the confidence and skills necessary to thrive in their career or personal goals and accomplish plans outlined in our sessions.
