About My Clients
Over the past 26 years, I have provided therapeutic services to children, tweens, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. My experiences have ranged from clinical and program administration to individual/group/family therapy to psychological testing. Diagnoses treated include sports performance (professional and amateur), chronic mental health issues, medical-psychiatric issues, chemical dependency, chronic health conditions, and developmental disorders.
My Background and Approach
In addition to being a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, I also holds credentials as a Certified ART Therapist; a Certified EMDR Therapist; a National Certified Counselor (NCC); an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS); and a Board Certified-Telemental Health Therapist (BC-TMH). My conceptualization of issues is based in Systems Theory, which suggests our cognitions and behaviors are largely influenced by the various layers of our environment in which a client was reared. It does not discount genetic issues. My treatment application is grounded in Cognitive Behavior Therapy or what we commonly refer to as "talk therapy". Frequent incorporation of EMDR or Accelerated Resolution Therapy in conjunction with traditional talk therapy is used. With that said, I believe it important to figure out what works best for the client. At times, I utilizes other treatment modalities including experiential therapies such as Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
All people deserve to feel validated and heard. The therapeutic relationship is an opportunity for individuals to experience unconditional positive regard and appreciation. I believe that I have an obligation as a human being to show care to all individuals no matter their spiritual beliefs; no matter who they love; no matter their background; no matter their ethnicity.
