About My Clients

I look forward to getting to know each person who comes through my door (either in person or online). I meet you where you are and help you to define the changes you want in life, then we work together towards the goals you set. I draw from a variety of approaches and techniques and even sometimes create a new tool to fit your needs and perspective. I go above and beyond for every person because you and your family matter.

My Background and Approach

I am always engaging in my own self-reflection and self-growth, tapping in to my own courage and overcoming resistance so that I can bring my best self to support you on the challenges of your journey. I have plenty of formal training and professional experience, but my perspective and my passion for this work has been shaped through my own relationships including love for my late brother who suffered from mental illness and addiction, through raising two children who are now adults and through marriage, divorce and marriage again.I earned my first master’s degree in 1999 and was ordained in 2000. I served congregations, then did continuing education in chaplaincy and worked as a hospice chaplain. I went back to school for counseling and graduated with both a master’s degree in counseling and my doctor of ministry degree in 2013. I have worked in private practice as a therapist since then including counseling clergy and doing workshops and consulting for congregations on occasion.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As an ordained clergy person from a progressive tradition my understanding and appreciation for spirituality and religious experience is broad and inclusive. I serve as affiliated community minister for the UU church where I am a member. I volunteer at Spiritus Christi Mental Health Center and value the wisdom of progressive Christianity. As a counselor and in my previous work as a hospice chaplain, I have served people from a wide variety of faith traditions and those with no interest in spirituality or religion.
