I have worked with victims of Domestic Violence, recognizing that living with years of abuse can cause severe trauma. Working with the abused, starts with recognizing the abuse. I then focus on working to raise their self-esteem and deal with any emotional trauma they may have from the abuse; so that they can start to heal and rebuild their lives.
I have worked with children and adolescents in diverse settings, struggling with self esteem issues, emotional dysregulation and depression and anxiety. I focus on developing their own unique strengths to cope with issues.
I have worked extensively with the bereaved , providing comfort and support with the pain the loss inflicts. The goal is to empower you to live with your pain, rather than to be in pain.
CBT focuses on challenging and changing cognitive distortions and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems.
Emotions are the focus here. It has been said that : "When it comes to relationships, what can make or break them are emotions. You were attracted to your partner because of emotions, so it's natural that strong negative emotion can destroy the relationship. Sometimes, emotions trump logic, and emotion-focused therapy (EFT) might be the solution you need."
"Humanistic therapy is an approach that is centered around individuals as unique, with the potential for growth, rather than emphasizing set of symptoms or a diagnosis". This style of therapy focuses on the individual looking inward to find the right choices for themselves
