About My Clients

My ideal client varies in their struggles and goals, but needs a new way to find healing. They want a new form of therapy as past attempts have left them feeling overwhelmed, unsafe, and unsuccessful. I believe that healing is a long, but possible journey, that at its core requires compassion, safety, empathy, patience, and willingness. As a therapist I additionally provide support, empowerment, humor, inquisitiveness, and creativity.

My Background and Approach

I graduated from Adler University with a MA in Art therapy and Counseling, qualifying me as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Provisional Art Therapist. I have experience practicing art therapy and counseling with outpatient and intensive outpatient clients struggling with trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, bipolar disorders, schizoaffective disorders, borderline personality disorder, as well as working with gender and sexuality related issues.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe and respect that healing journeys are unique, and that art therapy can help many people who find traditional talk therapy challenging, unfit, or needing supplement. I bring support, empowerment, humor, inquisitiveness, and creativity and value the therapeutic relationship as one that requires compassion, safety, empathy, patience, and a willingness to work. I became an art therapist because I believe the most important part of the therapeutic relationship is creating an environment of safety and connection, while still challenging you to explore new perspectives and ways of healing. Everybody’s healing and therapy journey is unique, and every person requires individualized treatment. I have witnessed both in my own healing and that of others the different ways art can facilitate healing by helping process, provide insight, help with grounding, and more. For some art can be intimidating, but there is no requirement for self-perceived artistic or creative abilities!
