About My Clients
I specialize in working with Transition Age Young People (15-25). Being young is a unique and sometimes isolating experience as you navigate who you are, who you want to be and who the world expects you to be. My clients often experience symptoms of depression, anxiety and trauma. They are moving from dependence on caregivers or systems, to independence or self sufficiency and are wishing to integrate their experiences into their whole being.
My Background and Approach
I approach each person as an individual and believe that healing comes through cultivating and experiencing safe and nurturing spaces and relationships. My work is rooted in Existential and Liberation theory. Instead of putting focus on the past, or viewing you as wrong or flawed, I believe that through authenticity and relationship you can recognize your full power and capacity. I believe that every person struggles with being a human at times. I incorporate Somatic and parts (Internal Family Systems) work in my practice to help you get in touch with your own inner resources by helping you recognize what’s going on for you in the present moment, and guiding you in how you can move forward in a way that doesn’t have to feel heavy all of the time.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe healing happens through being in relationship to ourselves and others. Each person has a right to quality mental health care. I am committed to utilizing the therapeutic relationship as a means to dismantle the individualist, patriarchy that keeps all people isolated, without community and denied access to full emotional well-being. I am passionate about working with Powerful Groups Targeted for Oppression; I understand and always aim to continue to learn more about the many social and system failures that create barriers to accessing quality mental health services.
