About My Clients

I am most experienced in working with anxiety, depression, and the impacts of childhood trauma. I am very interested in supporting my clients step into their most authentic selves and support their healing journey. I am a depth-oriented therapist and prefer to work with clients in a long-term capacity. In short, we are working on the deeper underlying issues as opposed to the more straightforward surface-level concerns.

My Background and Approach

My therapeutic approach is relational psychodynamic. In short, I believe the relationship between the client and the therapist is a very important element in the therapy. I believe that trust in the therapeutic relationship is a critical ingredient necessary to make sharing the most vulnerable aspects of your experience safe. Prior to studying psychology and deciding to become a therapist, I worked as a counselor with youth and adults in several capacities for over a decade. I am a mixed raced/Black person and have worked on my identity for most of my life. That is the reason I feel so drawn to working with people that are striving to step into their authentic selves and who yearn to find their voice. I believe that healing is possible, and have studied several areas of psychology to serve my clients best with a mix of various approaches, including mindfulness, psychodynamic, somatic elements, and liberation psychology.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that no matter what we have been through, we are still here. I believe that therapy has helped me heal and thrive when so many odds were against me. I believe that feeling heard and validated can be super helpful. I believe that it is hard to think and make decisions when your nervous system is dysregulated, and I believe traumatic experiences can make it hard to regulate that system. I know that short-term therapy that focuses purely on surface-level symptoms isn't my style. I know what draws many people to therapy is quite complex and multifaceted. Depth therapy seeks to explore the complex layers that make up the complex experience. The relational part of my style means that I am committed to being 100% present with you and your experience each and every session.
