Licensed therapist in CA & WA state helping people heal and develop more meaning in their lives, while gaining personal empowerment.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker in SANTA MONICA, CA
I obtained post-graduate training at The University of Washington in the assessment & treatment of psychological trauma. Since 2010 I've been a trauma informed provider and a Cognitive Processing Therapy provider (a gold standard evidenced-based trauma therapy). I've helped people heal from domestic violence, sexual assault, childhood abuse, and combat Veterans.
The nature of my work, along with specialized training, has lead me to develop an in depth understanding of how the dynamics of power and control, systemic oppression, & psychological trauma impacts a woman's day to day life. I started my career over a decade ago exclusively helping women heal from domestic violence, sexual assault, and emotional abuse.
I believe grief is caused by a deep capacity to love. My personal experience with grief and loss at a young age inspired me to become a healer as an adult. I understand on a personal & clinical level how grief & loss impacts multiple areas of a person's life across their lifetime. Our society tends to be insensitive when it comes to the grieving process, so many people feel alone & ashamed that they just "can't get over it".
ACT has been close to my heart since I was first introduced to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) at a specialized training in 2008. Since then I became Certified as an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy provider & gained a Department of Veteran Affairs ACT Provider Status in 2015. I enjoy using this therapy to help client's connect to their personal values to create more meaning & purpose in life, increase psychological flexibility, & gain new ways of approaching negative self-talk.
*Specialized training from The University of Washington in The Assessment & Treatment of Psychological Trauma. *Certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) which is a gold standard evidenced-based-trauma focused therapy since 2011 & Department of Veteran Affair's CPT Provider Status since 2013. *The majority of client's I've worked with have been diagnosed with PTSD or experienced psychological trauma.
While working on my Bachelor's in Social Work back in 2005 I discovered my passion & talent for helping women heal & gaining personal empowerment. Having struggled with Imposter Syndrome in the past, I understand how a patriarchal society impacts a woman's day to day life. My feminist approach focuses on helping client's gain their own sense of empowerment by helping connect them to their personal values.
