Transitions are inevitable whether pushed on us or chosen. A therapist can make this journey a little less stressful. Some transitions that I've assisted clients with include gender changes, sexuality changes, relationship status, pregnancy and parenting, moving, career shifts, and more with the goal of learning about yourself, reflecting on your connections, and aligning your behavior and self talk.
Friendships, family, and romantic relationships are challenging. We have different ways of doing and thinking about things which may lead to conflict. Anxiety, panic, and continued stress are not fun to say the least. Although anxiety can serve a purpose in our lives, with many people anxiety has jumped in and took over the driver's seat. I will help you to learn ways to address and manage your anxiety and panic so that you feel back in control. This may look like challenging thoughts, reframing your history, managing self care activities, exposure therapy, grounding techniques, and consistent congruent behavior.
We will take a look at the way the narratives you create about your life and see if there are gaps or alternatives to these perspectives. We will also evaluate your behavior to make sure that it is aligned with the goals that you have for your future. And we will brainstorm and encourage self care and coping skills that help towards a healthier, happier you.
The relationships that surround you impact you. Some of these relationships may be emotionally close and causing a lot of heartache. And some of the other relationships that could bring you more joy may be further away. We will take a look at the relationships in your life, including your relationships with the systems in your life, to evaluate what adjustments can be made to bring you closer to your goals.
If you're planning to attend therapy, it's probably because you have a goal. You may not have completely flushed out what that goal is but I can assist with that. We will make sure that your goals are realistic as well as look at what your motivation is for these goals. We will see if there are ways to make you more motivated as well as what obstacles are challenging your motivation and success.
