My name is Matt. I am passionate about people and helping them reach their full potential. I am fun-loving, committed, and loyal.
Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania
I have over 80 hours of training in this modality, but I am constantly learning more. It is effective in so many situations and allows for a full understanding of the person, and work towards goals that are 'worth living.' I especially enjoy the focus on finding synthesis in the areas of your life.
Mind mapping. It is a skill that I use in almost every session and helps my clients understand their historical emotions and figure out what they want to do with their emotions in the future. This is only one skill that I infuse into sessions to help give emotions the primary focus.
I utilize Gestalt therapy every day. It seamlessly integrates into my session, and the focus on the "here and now," is extremely beneficial to my clients. Some believe that it can be harsh and cold, but the focus, when employed in my sessions over the years, has been understanding feelings, thoughts, and emotions when discussing them with someone else.
I am skilled in behavioral interventions and interpersonal relationships. These areas, including emotional regulation, are all pieces to working with Adolescents. A bulk of my experience is with adolescence, servicing in-home, and in schools.
I have extensive training in DBT which focuses on the dialectic of two difficult extremes: acceptance, and change. This gives me the ability to recognize the areas of weakness, as well as strengths, to help my clients overcome pervasive patterns that have caused difficulty in life.
I have led several pieces of training on burnout and work with those who have experienced burnout. My expertise doesn't have particular populations as I have worked with mothers, teachers, and therapists. The main function of burnout tends to be subversive and unknown until it causes difficulty in one's life.
