About My Clients
We are adaptive beings, but sometimes the ways we adapt to experiences in our lives prove unhelpful and limiting in the long run - We do the best we can with what we have! Telling ourselves to "act" or "feel" different isn't enough and usually sets us up for failure. My clients range from those seeking therapy for the first time to those who are *pros* - but still struggle to see (and feel!) real differences in their lives.
My Background and Approach
We are shaped by our experiences, especially those during early development, and exploring these moments is so crucial to understanding the context surrounding what we've come to believe about ourselves. Attending to the systemic interplay of thoughts, feelings, experiences, as well as neurophysiological responses is a cornerstone of my therapy. I work with individuals, couples, and children, and from time to time I also offer group workshops. I have specialized training in EMDR, Play Therapy, and have over a decade of clinical experience. I am currently an LPC Board-approved clinical supervisor as well as an adjunct professor in Loyola University's Counseling program. I am also a research Neuroscientist at Tulane University studying stress and trauma. I successfully use EMDR Therapy with clients struggling with PTSD, anxiety, depression, self-worth, and many other issues. Even something your friends and family think is a minor event, can be a traumatic moment for you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Sometimes we just need a band-aid to get us through a rough patch, and other times a deeper dive into long-standing patterns and struggles is the right focus - both are valid approaches!
