About My Clients

You could be my client if you have ever: Snapped and exploded at someone you love. Said yes -when you really meant no - to make someone else happy. Replayed, over and over, the stupid thing you said to the cashier yesterday. Gotten stressed out and did the Thing that you promised yourself you'd never do again. You could be my client if, after doing these things, you've thought: I'm the bad guy. I'm weak. I'm unlovable. And, guess what? We all have.

My Background and Approach

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), which means that I have been specially trained to assess and provide insights into the insidious patterns and cycles that get relationships stuck. Prior to starting my own practice, I worked at local government agencies with at-risk teens and children who witnessed domestic violence. Well before I received any formal academic or work training in being a therapist, life taught me. I grew up in a family where it was useful to be observant of others' moods, and to understand the fragility and brutality that can exist in a single person. Life left its imprint on me, and the imprint states this: That within each of us exist both the Hero and the Villain of our own stories. I help you find your way back to being your own hero. Together we'll dive into the stories you tell yourself about your hopes, dreams, failures, joys, and hurts. It will be tough, but I've got your back. I will always see the hero in you, even when you can't.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Therapy needs to be both practical and aspirational. That's why we will not only dig into the roots of your story, but we will also triage the symptoms that bring you into therapy. This looks like stuff you may have heard of before - coping skills, mindfulness, breath work - but we will do it in combination with the deep dive so that you get both the relief you need in the here-and-now, and also healing at your roots. I believe that the fit of the therapeutic relationship should feel like a cozy sweater (cheesy, I know). I don't believe in discomfort for discomfort's sake. Silence in therapy can be overrated - but when done in the right way, it can be the most healing salve in the world. I use real-world vernacular with my clients. With me, what you see is what you get. No condescending clinical jargon or judgment sits in the room with us. Because just like you, I am the Hero and the Villain in my own story - and I walk with you.
