About My Clients
I help kind perfectionists who put themselves last to start putting themselves first a little more often.
My Background and Approach
You are hoping to get the people in your life to stop making you so angry. Another day, another argument. Maybe the people in your life don’t know how your past keeps getting in the way. Imagine a household where talking actually gets to solutions. You will feel more confident in using your new skills the more you practice the role-plays, excersises and reminders that we cover in sessions. You will learn ideas that can let you RESPOND to problems, not REACT. As you see your relationships change, you’ll be able to adapt your responses in the moment. You will also see how dealing with complex grief and loss about what “could have been” will yield more peace, and yes, moments of happiness again.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I’m an LGBTQ+ ally who has training and experience in working with individuals dealing with strained family dynamics. In our part of Dallas County, I know it can be almost impossible to find a therapist who works with same-sex couples, so it’s important to me that you know you and your partner are in a safe place. Supporter and volunteer with the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention (AFSP). My Masters degree is in Human Relations, which gives me a unique prospective in how the experience of being “the other” impacts our mental health, especially when being an “other” is too often pathologized.
