My Background and Approach
Melissa graduated with honors, earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Counseling from Texas A&M University, Commerce. She gained clinical experience working with children, teens, and adults at a community counseling center in the Collin County area. Using a client-focused approach, an eclectic counseling style, and play therapy for children, Melissa develops individualized treatment that allows each client to find their own path to healing and recovery.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Sometimes in life we just get stuck, trapped by a difficult situation, a distressing relationship, or an event that causes pain and/or the inability to move forward. Counseling can help untangle thoughts and feelings, understand patterns, and develop the skills to remove barriers, build personal strength, and live life with contentment and hope. Having experienced the benefits of counseling as I dealt with my own past loss and trauma, I know that healing that can occur in a place of acceptance and encouragement. I strive to create a safe space for individuals to explore issues at their own pace, with support, empathy, and compassion. It is my desire to help others as they navigate difficulties and experience positive changes in their own lives.
