About My Clients
I help women and teen girls who are experiencing unhealthy levels of stress, anxiety, and perfectionism. I work with them to figure out what is causing their emotional pain and self doubt. By exploring how their past experiences impact their present narrative and developing healthy coping skills, my clients are able to gain confidence, prioritize their own self care and find more joy and fulfillment in their lives. I offer in person and online sessions.
My Background and Approach
Melissa has completed significant training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Therapy. Prior to starting her private practice, her professional experience includes working in a mental health outpatient clinic, where she worked with a varied array of mental health challenges and in a specialized trauma program for adults and teens who experienced childhood neglect and abuse. Melissa has also worked in a school setting and provided supportive therapy to tweens and teens. Her private practice specializes in the treatment of women and adolescent females who are experiencing stress, anxiety, trauma recovery, relationship issues and life transitions. Melissa also works with men who are experiencing similar issues.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Therapy is a collaborative relationship that is dependent on a strong therapeutic alliance. My goal is for clients to gain a strong understanding and a healthy perspective about themselves and their social relationships. In our work together, I use a combination of the relationship that we develop and evidence based treatments to help you identify thinking styles and behaviors that are contributing to your overall mental health. We will dig deep below the surface to heal wounds from your past, that are continuing to cause you pain in the present. Together we will explore new skills for coping with your emotions and for challenging your negative thinking styles, so that you can engage in healthier behaviors, leading to a more balanced life with more fulfillment and joy. Finding the right therapist, who values and understands you is an important step towards creating positive and lasting change.
