About My Clients
My specialty is working with kids, teens and young adults. I am experienced in treating anxiety, depression, phobias/fears, obsessive compulsive disorder, relationship issues, emotional and behavioral problems, as well as life transitions. I meet with young people across the state of Minnesota & Wisconsin for our sessions via telehealth.
My Background and Approach
I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Iowa State University and a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University. Prior to opening my own private practice in 2022, I was able to get a lot of experience in a variety of settings including: -St. David's Center for Children and Family Development (2004) -Fraser Child & Family Center, Day Treatment Program (2005-2011) -Washburn Center for Children, Outpatient Therapy Internship (2008-2009) -Midwest Center for Personal and Family Development, Outpatient Therapy (2013-2022). In treatment, I structure my sessions in a way that allows my clients to process and discuss things going on in their lives as well as learn tools and strategies to improve their resilience and emotional wellbeing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that mental health is so important. Good mental health can unlock a life of peace and happiness. What better time to have access to mental health services than in childhood. It's a great time to start learning about feelings and how to attend to our needs. There is so much to learn about our relationships with ourselves, others and the world around us. For my clients, it is such a powerful time in developing their foundation for the rest of their lives. When I am not wearing my therapist hat, I am with my family and friends. I love being a mom to my three kids. I love running outside and am always up for fun and adventure.
