About My Clients

I have a penchant for working with helping professionals. Devoting yourself to the care/growth/support of others is hard work, and I believe it's important to carve out time to process all of the victories and obstacles that go along with this type of work. As a former educator, I also enjoy working with teens and young adults, helping them to cope with stressors, navigate transitions, embrace their authentic self, & develop healthy relationships (with people and FOOD).

My Background and Approach

I’m a Master’s level therapist in pursuit of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. I've received training in suicide prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), & Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I operate from a strengths-based perspective and work to integrate elements of positive psychology into my approach, which is highly individualized to meet the needs of each specific client. I understand how scary it can be to engage in therapy, but I'm a firm believer that EVERYONE can benefit from a non-judgmental, outside perspective from time to time. I value each individual’s uniqueness and want to help clients weed through barriers and obstacles, not only to alleviate suffering and survive, but also to thrive.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

“We don’t want to be uncomfortable. We want a quick and dirty 'how-to' list for happiness. I don’t fit that bill. Never have. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to skip over the hard stuff, but it just doesn’t work. We don’t change, we don’t grow, and we don’t move forward without the work. If we really want to live a joyful, connected, and meaningful life, we must talk about things that get in the way.” ― Brené Brown LIFE.ISN’T.EASY. And unfortunately, society often sends us the message that we have to have it all together and *should* know how to navigate life’s challenges…but in my opinion, that’s a load of crap. It’s okay to experience intense emotions. It’s okay to not know how to handle a situation or what to do next. It’s okay to struggle (both situationally & chronically). And you don’t have to continue on this journey of feeling & coping & struggling all by yourself! Let me be your guide :-)
