Throughout my master's education and internship, students were encouraged to focus on one treatment modality. I focused on CBT. Throughout my internship, I primarily used CBT based interventions such as exploring the relationship between thoughts, actions, feelings, challenging negative thoughts, identifying core beliefs, and having the client identify and monitor treatment goals.
Counseling should be client focused as this is the client's journey. I believe in empowering the client as I help provide tools to get the client where they want to be. My role is to provide unconditional positive regard to the client as they work through life's challenges. There will be collaboration between the counselor and client in sessions and the treatment plan.

I had trainings in art, sand trays, and music based treatments. I would use books, bubbles, slime, play-do, fidgets, drawings, children movies, and other age appropriate activities to create a interactive space for children. When working with children, my goal is to have the family, especially the parents, engaged in the child's treatment.
