About My Clients
I work with diverse clients and have expertise in working with adolescents, young adults, LGBTQIA individuals who want to play an active role in facilitating their recovery and pursuing wellness. I work with a large number of perinatal clients who are pregnant or who have recently given birth, and am comfortable providing medication management during the perinatal period. I work with a large number of women who are pursuing careers, higher education, or navigating motherhood!
My Background and Approach
I draw on both my professional and personal experiences to provide the very best compassionate holistic care. As a nurse midwife, I have worked extensively with families and have a passion for women's mental health issues and the LGBTQIA community. I understand the complexities of motherhood, parenting, and managing stressors and mental illness. I am certified by Postpartum Support International in Perinatal Mental Health. As a college professor, I have helped thousands of young people identify their personal goals and help them navigate to meet those goals. I am also certified in forensics and can assist women with postpartum psychosis and provide expert witness testimony in this area. I am one of the few providers who has a passion for working with women with postpartum psychosis.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that each and every person has their own unique experiences that guide and mold them throughout their journey. I believe that despite hardships, we can overcome struggles and find coping strategies and tools to create balance to our lives. I truly believe that often the most unexpected life experiences can provide the most growth, despite being unwanted or unintentional. I believe that the therapeutic relationship should cultivate respect, that the client should be the guiding force in decision-making, and that the therapeutic relationship can be that nurtures confidence, fosters growth, and provides the nurturing to move a client forward. Finally, I believe that we are all here for a reason, and that if paths are meant to cross, they will. I consider myself an advocate for maternal and women's mental health, the LGBTQIA and disability communities . I have a passion for working with families and support the notion that family is what the individual identifies!
