About My Clients

Are you struggling with having a good relationship with your spouse/child/boss/parent or another person in your life? Are you a believer and wondering why you still have anxiety or depression that is keeping you from a joyful, abundant life? Are you feeling lonely or isolated or disillusioned with how life is different than it was just two years ago? If any of that applies to you and you'd like someone to listen and teach you some helpful skills, I'm here to help. I look forward to meeting you.

My Background and Approach

I graduated in 2008 with a Master of Arts degree in Human Services Counseling from Regent University. I started practicing the year prior after receiving my Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I counsel individuals, couples, and families, aged 6 and above. My areas of expertise are relationship counseling (pre-marriage, marriage, friends), anxiety and depression therapy, working with trauma survivors (veterans, abuse), and foster care/adoption issues. My clinical approach is primarily CBT and Biblical Counseling, but I use many different modalities in trying to find the best method for each individual client. Whether providing faith-based or secular counseling, I strive to listen, respect, and give the best therapy possible to every person. Helping each person to find resolution to whatever concern they bring to counseling is what I love to do.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Since I promote faith-based counseling you may want to understand my beliefs. I was raised Catholic, became non-denominational Christian, and prefer Scripture alone as my foundation of faith and practice. I am currently a wife of 21 years. From my first marriage of 21 years I have four biological children and three adopted children. In my current marriage I became stepmother to three and we have adopted two more. One of my adopted daughters passed away at age 5, but she is still one of my 12 children. Currently we have 24 grandchildren. I cherish family. I believe healthy and happy families tend to create healthy and happy families. Dysfunctional, unhappy families often lead to more dysfunction and unhappiness. That's why I love working with families and relationships. They can bring the greatest joy, but also the deepest sorrow. It IS possible to overcome dysfunction and unhappiness and create joy.
