About My Clients

Do you struggle with feeling that you're "too much" and "not enough" all at the same time. This internal battle may keep you up at night, leaving you continually analyzing every action and interaction. This battle may be the result of messages you have received throughout life - from parents, educators, religion, partners. I can help you sort through the messages, learn skills to alleviate the symptoms, and find the courage to show up in the world as fully yourself.

My Background and Approach

I believe each person I work with is unique and I let that guide my work with them. Therapy with me is collaborative from the beginning - we talk about your struggles, your desires or goals, and the things you've tried in the past. I then utilize my training to bring support and skills to you as you work toward your goals. I work from a trauma-informed approach and have training in the following therapuetic approaches: Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI). I am also Level 1 trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Level 1 trained in Brainspotting. My specialties include working with religious trauma and body image concerns. I also work with anxiety and general life transitions.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that ALL people deserve respect, compassion, and access to care. As a fat therapist, I have firsthand awareness of the role diet culture and fatphobia can play in receiving appropriate care. I work from a Health at Every Size lens and incorporate Intuitive Eating concepts into my work. I continue to pursue both professional and personal learning related to being an ally of the LGBTQ+ community and to gaining greater understanding of being anti-racist. I am transparent with clients and potential clients regarding the limits of my knowledge and expertise, and willing to accept suggestions for learning more or to offer referrals when needed. I work with many folks recovering from religious trauma or spiritual abuse, and believe that each person's journey is their own. I am comfortable discussing religious / spiritual beliefs to the extent that a client desires (which may mean not at all), and accepting of wherever you are in your spiritual journey.
