Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in VALLEY VILLAGE, CA
“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.” – C. G. Jung. Depth therapy honors both our inner and outer life, and views symptoms not as ‘problems,’ but as the voice of our soul speaking out. In therapy, we will enter on a collaborative and creative journey to explore and integrate the unconscious and conscious aspects of your experience, and help you find meaning, Self-understanding, and greater freedom in all aspects of your life.
“Gestalt therapy is about helping people become aware of what they do and how they do it, and to encourage living in the present, to ‘be here now,’ and make better choices.” – Violet Oaklander. In Gestalt therapy, I use talk or play to help you or your child experience, explore, and process thoughts, feelings and sensations to bring greater awareness, self-understanding and empowerment. I am not an ‘expert’ but a partner on your journey, in the process with you every step of the way.
“This is your body, your greatest gift, pregnant with wisdom you do not hear, grief you thought was forgotten, and joy you have never known.” -Marion Woodman. Neuroscientific research shows there is no separation between body and mind. We feel symptoms of anxiety, depression, or trauma in the body: racing heart, churning stomach, fatigue, aches and pains. I use gentle, safe, somatic methods to help clients process experiences and learn simple, effective somatic skills to reduce symptoms.
Worried constantly about the future? Afraid to take a step in any direction, because what if it’s the wrong choice? And you just KNOW everybody is looking at you and can see all your failings. You can feel it in your racing heart, sweaty palms, tight chest and stomach. I get you. I’ve been there. I use a holistic approach with my clients, and myself, to learn effective skills to reduce anxiety symptoms, explore and release the root causes, and find relief and healing in body, mind and soul.
“Life presents us with repeated opportunities to face what we fear, what we need to become conscious of, or what we need to master.” -J.S. Bolen. Sometimes we experience events in life that throw us off-course. Or we stand at a fork in life’s road, with no idea which way to go. Life can sometimes be hard to navigate alone. In therapy, you can find the space in which you are able to hear the still, soft voice inside of you; of wisdom, heart, and mind. Then the path becomes clear.
Trauma is hell on earth. Trauma resolved is a gift from the gods. -Peter Levine Trauma can be overwhelming, but alongside trauma is resilience, our natural drive toward healing, wholeness and meaning. To support this, I use the Trauma Resiliency Model, which focuses on the gentle release and reprocessing of traumatic experiences, and teaches simple wellness skills that help you learn to re-set your own nervous system and deepen your resilience, thereby restoring balance to mind, body and spirit.
