About My Clients

Let's be honest: life is hard sometimes. Maybe you find yourself 'stuck' in ineffective patterns, relationships that fail to meet your needs, or feel overwhelmed by the demands that life places on you. Maybe you're struggling with things that happened in the past, or are worried about the future. Maybe you feel like your emotions are getting the best of you, or maybe you feel numbed out and disengaged from the world. If so, therapy can be a wonderful tool to help navigate through tough times.

My Background and Approach

I graduated with my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Indianapolis in 2014, and am a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas. Throughout my training and career, I’ve continued to grow as a therapist and an advocate. I believe that we never stop learning and growing, and I find that I learn something new from every person that I work with. My approach is collaborative – I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and I want to help you sort through the problems you are facing and come up with creative ways of solving them. The therapeutic relationship is essential, and my goal is that everyone who comes to my office feels validated, seen, and heard. Growth and change can be challenging and scary at times, so I want to create an environment where you feel safe to share whatever is on your mind. Even if you don't feel very strong right now, I believe everyone has unique strengths and I want to help reconnect you with your inner power and resilience.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a firm believer of seeing you as a whole person - not just focusing on the symptoms you are experiencing or your diagnosis. No one treatment approach works for everyone; context matters, and the unique identity you have will help guide us in creating intervention strategies that are right for you. We all tend to get stuck in certain patterns at times, and while those patterns may have been adaptive in the past they may not be serving us anymore. To paraphrase Marsha Linehan (creator of DBT): "we're all doing the best we can, and we can do better" - meaning that all of us are doing our best to live our lives and deserve dignity and respect AND all of us are also capable of growth and change. I am passionate about supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, and I have a lot of experience working with, supporting, and advocating for LGBTQIA+ people. I am a strong advocate for social justice, and am committed to doing my part to help dismantle systemic oppression.
