Bicultural, Iranian woman practicing trauma-informed therapy with a social justice lens
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in San Francisco, CA
I believe it is important to look at systemic structures and how that impacts your mental health. I help you shift focus to the larger societal systems and how they may effect you depending on your unique identities. I also explore your cultural background with you. Depending on your cultural identity, we can understand how you or your ancestors have been oppressed historically and currently.
I am honored to guide you in grieving a current loss or a past loss. I am here to witness your complex emotions around grief. I would love to provide you the space to share about your feelings of loss and grief.
If you are a woman who holds a marginalized identity, I would love to work with you. We can explore the challenges of navigating work, relationships, and the many other aspects of life as a woman. I would love to help you feel empowered and liberated in our work together.
I believe the foundation of our work is learning about your early childhood experiences and how that may have impacted you in the past and currently. Some of your earliest relationships patterns can show up later in your adult life. Our work is to start examining those patterns and begin healing some of those early experiences.
In our work together, we can critique and challenge historical views on women. We can then notice how those messages are ingrained in society and our family systems. I empower you to feel free of patriarchal expectations and to celebrate yourself and all of the women in your life.
You have a cultural identity that is unique and complex. I bring in my own experience of being bicultural to help in empathizing and understanding your experience.
