This was probably the very first approach I learned in grad school, as its really the nature of creating a therapeutic relationship. My job as therapist is to provide an open, non-judgmental environment that can cultivate feelings of safety for my clients. I show up with transparency, empathy, and unconditional positive regard for my clients and their experiences.
