About My Clients

I offer you a space where nonjudgmental exploration, mental clarity, and radical self-acceptance take place. As your psychologist and strategic thought partner, I'll help you address relationship problems, daily stress, depression, anxiety, and past trauma. I look forward to hearing your story and working with you to shape your future path as to how you would want it to be -- not how you have been taught, told, or think it should be. Let us together, define your sense of balance and vitality.

My Background and Approach

Working with me is like taking a road trip on your life path. You drive and I help navigate. You bring your skills and resources-- you are the expert of your life. And I bring my knowledge and expertise. I tailor my services to fit your style and needs. Your history, current situation, and future endeavors are unique so a one-approach-fits-all isn't going to work. Because I'm dual licensed in California and Washington, I can provide therapy to residents of both states. I am trained in multiple mental health treatment approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and the Gottman Method. I'm also trained to help you behaviorally manage medical conditions such as Parkinson's, Diabetes, and chronic pain. I look forward to meeting you and seeing if we're good a fit.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My parents gave me the name, Vo Ngoc My Linh. My last name, Vo, means martial arts and my middle name, Ngoc, means pearl. Ngoc is also a part of Ngoc Huong, my mother's first name. According to my mother, My Linh means “dep lung linh” or in English, "glistening beauty." My mother named me after the First Lady of the Republic of China, Ton My Linh, who is also known as Soong Mei-Ling. When I came to the U.S. at age 8, a mix-up with the Social Security Administration resulted in my middle name being changed to Thi. My father, worried that the process of changing Thi back to Ngoc would delay my citizenship, did not try to change it back. I am now My Linh Thi Vo. Embedded within my name is the history of my ancestry, of international political relations, of my family's immigration to the U.S., and of my identity as a Vietnamese American woman. Because I am made in Vietnam and assembled in California, I live in the borderland of two cultures.
