About My Clients
I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including mood disorders (depression, anxiety, bi-polar), eating disorders, body image, self-esteem, sexuality, career change, relationship issues and grief and loss. I have also helped many people who have experienced physical, sexual and mental trauma and abuse.
My Background and Approach
I offer a holistic person-centered, strengths-based approach to therapy focused on respect, compassion, and personal growth. The treatment approaches and techniques I employ include body-based work, somatics, sandtray therapy art therapy, CBT, DBT, and mindfulness skills. I am a certified Body Poet through the SEA Institute School of Embodiment in the UK (https://bodypoem.org/) and a certified Be Body Positive group facilitator through The Body Positive Institute (https://thebodypositive.org). My counseling style is warm, authentic and engaging and encourages clients through active participation and resources to create positive chance and transformation. My primary interest is in empowering women and girls to find their voice, accept their bodies, and reclaim their lives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an ally to the LGBTQ+ community and Black Lives Matter supporter. I strongly believe in being culturally aware and responsive to the diverse needs of people of various cultural, ethnic and gender expansive backgrounds other than my own. I believe in the power of art to heal and transform and am also an advocate for animals and the healing and connection to the natural world.
