About My Clients

To me, queerness is about acknowledging the ways in which standard, pre-conceived models of existence don't fit and that is a framework I bring to all therapy sessions. I work with people who have experienced trauma and who don't feel like the life they want and are capable of is available to them. Together, I believe we can write a new script that allows us to see ourselves and grow our lives in whichever direction we choose.

My Background and Approach

"Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding"-Kahlil Gibran. I believe our emotions are our greatest teachers, and I work with clients to understand and unpack their lessons in order to cultivate a relationship to healing that's individual, sustainable, and empowering. There are many painful emotions and experiences we'd rather avoid, but like us, emotions need to be witnessed, respected, seen and heard. I customize my treatment and my approach based on my client's individual needs. I work to earn your trust, understand your goals, and build a safe, accountable, secure, and respectful relationship with you, something without which I do not believe therapy can be effective. My goals as a therapist are to get you more in touch with your own voice and to facilitate a loving relationship with yourself that you can bring with you wherever else you go in the world. I specialize in providing grief therapy, LGBTQ+ affirming and trauma-informed therapy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I never take the privilege of witnessing another's vulnerability lightly. I believe to earn that privilege, I must challenge myself and continuously pursue my own healing so that I can most effectively serve my clients. That is a lifelong journey. I learn so much from my clients, and reject models of top-down, authoritative interventions. We need connection in order to thrive. This happens between equals who are each learning and growing from their experiences. That is what I hope to provide. That cannot happen without acknowledging the ways in which white supremacy, homophobia, misogyny, the carceral state, classism and many other "-isms" shape our world and render many unequal. I seek to both celebrate the individual and acknowledge the systems they exist within that can limit and dehumanize them, and to hold the painful reality that justice is not always present in this world. Even in a world that can minimize and shrink our humanity, you deserve treatment that truly empowers you.
