My Background and Approach
I have over 5 years of experience working with a wide range of clients including children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. I've worked in a variety of settings including a community mental health agency, helping adolescents and families in South Africa with high levels of stress and trauma as well as a private group practice in Silicon Valley specializing in anxiety and OCD. I have experience helping clients manage a range of concerns including anxiety, worry, panic attacks, social anxiety, phobias, OCD, insomnia and depression. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I am a certified CBT therapist through the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. My trainings include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), TEAM therapy by David Burns, M.D. at Stanford, the OCD BTTI certification through the OCD foundation, Crisis Intervention, along with Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing techniques.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As someone that also struggles with an anxiety disorder, it took years to find therapy that actually helped me to manage and reduce my anxiety. Because of this, I'm passionate about learning and practicing evidenced based or research backed therapy. Therapy is a very individualized thing and finding a good fit is important. I also believe that therapy is a collaborative process and I enjoy getting feedback from clients on what works and what didn't work so we can cater the therapy to what works for you. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, reading psychology and self-help books and testing out new ice cream recipes.
