About My Clients
I work with clients across the developmental spectrum with speciality in working with teenagers. My teen clients come to me feeling overwhelmed by their growing responsibilities, changing minds and bodies, and pressure to be accepted. They may be irritable, moody, anxious, depressed, and have a harder time connecting and feeling connected at home and in school. The search for identity and meaning is a difficult one at any age but they are not feeling fully equipped to find the right answers.
My Background and Approach
My approach is to work together with your teen to untangle all the thoughts competing for attention in their minds, identify and prioritize their needs, build affect tolerance, acceptance, anxiety management, self-compassion, and non-judgement. I offer support to parents in understanding useful ways to help your teen cope without compromising the integrity of the confidential therapeutic relationship. I have extensive experience working with teens and their families as a private practice therapist, as a high school counselor, and more. I understand the nuances of all the changes the teenage years bring to a family system and want to help your family thrive through this phase of development so your child can launch into their next phase of independence with the tools needed to feel fulfilled in their adulthood. You have given your all to get your child to where they are, let's work together to get them over this next hurdle.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe change happens when we all work together in a collaborative approach. The participation of the whole family system is important to make long-lasting meaningful change. I believe everyone is in need of support as we navigate this crazy thing called life. I value a trauma-informed and harm-reduction perspective that is LGBTQIA+ affirming. I have helped many families support their trans and gnc children to feel embraced and affirmed in their identity.
