About My Clients

Finding life is overwhelming more these days? Is this a time of transition and transformation for you? Curious about patterns in relationships, behaviors, and situations in your life? You're not alone. Many of us find ourselves here at some point in our lives. Coming in to a therapeutic relationship, where safety and compassion can grow, is important for making the changes you're looking for. It's what inspires my practice and work with clients. May you find a place for you to grow and heal.

My Background and Approach

We all have inherent ability to heal, grow, and live authentically. That ability is always with us and essential to who we are, but we get separated from it at times in our lives. We live within systems that can be dysfunctional or even abusive. Those systems may be family, workplace, religious, educational, geo-political, environmental, economic, healthcare, etc. Coping with those systems may leave us with unhelpful coping skills later in life. When we explore that dynamic, we can start to unravel our entanglement in them and reconnect to our inherent abilities. My specialty is in treating individual and inter-generational trauma. I work in the here and now with mindfulness and somatic techniques while exploring the impact of past relationships, experiences, and behaviors. My approach is collaborative with the client being the expert in their life and my role as helper in finding those inherent abilities.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a member of the Japanese American National Museum and their cause to not forget the injustice of Japanese-American concentration camps. My paid memberships also include Sierra Club, Green Peace, ACLU, and local botanical gardens. I volunteer for my professional organization and am the Executive Director to The Place Within.. I'm on the board of the National Assoc. of Home and Hybrid Education and promote alternatives to traditional education when it doesn't fit the individual, family, or community. I'm grounded in sex-positivity, body-positivity, and relationships first. Societal and individual challenges are multi-faceted and integrated, and I strive to understand where my growing edges are so I can take action in those directions. There is power in getting out in nature, creativity as curative, taking the road less traveled, nutrition as health, and laughter as a medicine. My hobbies include photography, painting, playing guitar around a campfire.
