About My Clients
In order for us to get to know each other, I conduct an initial intake, gathering information about family history, any societal stressors, and previous treatment history. I have a lot of handouts and information sheets that I like to give to clients as needed. I like working with clients who are engaged in treatment, motivated for growth, and open to exploring various treatment approaches.
My Background and Approach
I took a lot of training in DBT. Although I’m not a specialist, I like to incorporate mindfulness and grounding techniques into my practice. I am very interested in childhood trauma and how that affects life for adults. I've taken training on that and would like to study more.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the power to change and grow at any time during their lives. I believe that those that put in the work and are motivated for growth/change will benefit the most from therapy. There is a lot of power in talking through various issues and learning different ways to communicate better, setting healthy boundaries, using healthy coping skills and the importance of self-care. Throughout my life, I have felt anxious, depressed and struggled with ADHD and have had to learn better ways to deal with these emotions if I wanted to be happier and more fulfilled.
