About My Clients
My passion, education, and experience is in working with the LGBTQ population. I specialize in working with LGBTQ Christians who are reconciling faith, sexuality, and gender. I also have extensive experience working with LGBTQ+ folks who struggle with addiction and are navigating their recovery journeys.
My Background and Approach
I earned my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles and graduated through their LGBT Specialization. I became a therapist to give back specifically to my queer community. Being that the LGBTQ+ community struggles with addiction 2-3 times more than the general population, it was important to me to gain knowledge and experience in the field of substance abuse treatment, in which I consistently worked over the course of 8 years, including being the clinical director at an LGBTQ-specific treatment facility. I am now in full-time private practice. I also recognize the traumatization of our community from a spiritual lens, for LGBTQ-identified folks who are both inside and outside of Christian-based churches and communities. I am very passionate about working with LGBTQ+ folks who are looking to heal religious and spiritual trauma.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the inherent resiliency of humanity, and even more so for folks who have been marginalized by the heteronormative, cisnormative, white-priviledged patriarchy that is our society (in the US, at least). I believe that as a member of the queer community, I can use my gifts to help elevate and lift up others. I believe that people who seek out therapy are some of the strongest people in the world and I truly love what I have been taught from both sides of "the couch". I believe TERFS are not feminists, I believe trans women are women, trans men are men, non-binary folks don't have to express their gender 'androgynously' to be valid, and I believe that no one is free until we are all free. I also believe in the power of music, baseball, board games, and all things nerdy.
