About My Clients
Are you struggling with sexual issues, relationship style or gender expression? Are you conflicted over what you think you "should" be doing vs what you truly desire? In a shame-free environment, I encourage a free-ranging conversation to help you broaden your ideas around what is possible in your life. Are you kinky, poly or a closeted crossdresser? These are just a few of the areas in which you will have a safe space to explore and expand.
My Background and Approach
As a musician and professional sculptor for over 30 years, I have always felt a strong connection between the creative process and psychotherapy. If you happen to be an artist, I have a particular affinity for the struggles you might face. I see the the therapeutic encounter as a collaborative creative act. I am less interested in the past, placing more emphasis on the present and how you can move forward into the future. I like to incorporate mindfulness practice when dealing with anxiety and depression. I trained at UCLA in their Couples and Sex Therapy Training Program and am quite comfortable discussing such issues. I am well-versed in matters of non-traditional relationships.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe it is our duty to define who we really are and express this in all that we do while behaving ethically and responsibly. There is no rule that says you should have a certain kind of job, relationship or particular gender expression. Learning to be true to oneself can be difficult under the pressure of cultural norms. Many experience a great deal of shame and depression in trying to reconcile their own proclivities with society's expectations. I believe the removal of shame and a fostering of pride can do wonders to alleviate the burdens that many non-conforming people carry.
