About My Clients
I work with people who are interested in making constructive changes related to personal, work, and relationship stress, healing from past traumas, and learning how to “unstick” from spirals of negative thoughts and frustration. My treatment approach is strengths-based, solution-focused, and tailored to each individual. I specialize in evidence-based practices with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).
My Background and Approach
My therapeutic style has been described as warm, direct, and interactive. I engage in a collaborative process to support you in understanding problems that cause stress, and to introduce skills that can enhance your quality of life. I’ll work with you on identifying and achieving your goals, while helping you find a healthy balance and improve relationships. I am passionate about working with adults who experience depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and concerns related to work, relationships, and cultural identity. My experience includes working as an on-site counselor at Google, a therapist at Kaiser, and as a clinical social worker at Yale New Haven Hospital.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an Asian-American woman who grew up in China, Australia, and the US. After completing high school in Australia, I moved back to the US for college and found sociology classes related to race, class, and gender to be the most thought-provoking and inspiring. For my graduate degree I returned to the University of California, Berkeley and obtained a Master’s degree in Social Welfare (MSW) with a concentration in Community Mental Health. MSW programs have an emphasis on social justice issues, and this is important to me. Cultural humility is an integral part of my work, and I strive to create a safe, empathic, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all clients.
