We all have within us the natural tendency towards healing and growth. Sometimes we just need help from another to restore that ability.

About My Clients

If you have experienced any degree of trauma in your life, either developmentally as a child or through other life experiences, and feel anxious or immobilized; if you have lost someone due to suicide and don't know where to turn; if you are frustrated with the lack of "results" of your spiritual practice or troubled by issues like guilt, meaning, existence, or death; or if you are a teen or young adult, struggling with your identity, family, or other related issues, I believe I can help you.

My Background and Approach

Trauma colors every experience and interaction that we have. It affects our feelings about ourselves and the world, our sense of safety, our sense of connection, and all of our relationships. Somatic work engages the body’s nervous system – including thoughts, feelings, images, sensations, and memories – in a subtle yet powerful way that allows positive, lasting changes in the way we feel, live, and experience life. Somatic psychotherapy with an experienced trained clinician, attuned to you in a way that frees you to safely explore your inner world and your relationship with yourself and others, can change the way you feel about yourself and the world. Working with me would give you the opportunity to do just that. In the safety of a supportive and loving environment, I will offer guidance to help you live more fully in the present moment, with a deepened sense of joy and ease. Together, we will explore ways to free you from the bondage of the past and worries about the future.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As I said earlier, I believe that we all have within us the natural capacity and ability to heal and grow, and that it is never too late to begin or return to this effort. I had a traumatic childhood where I feared for my life every day and then lost my father to suicide when I was 18. I suffered through major depression, years of suicidal ideation, a variety of addictions, and many personal losses and tragedies. Yet I always believed, largely due to the inspirational writings and work of some of the earliest pioneers of the Human Potential Movement, that if I applied myself to the task of healing, I could succeed in having a joyful, productive and meaningful life. With the aid of many therapists, 12-Step groups, spiritual communities, professional programs, and the love of friends and family, I discovered that it is never too late to keep trying, and that with the right help, and a willingness to receive that help, things can get better, and life can be joyful and gratifying.
