The goal of CBT is to help recognize, challenge, and change maladaptive thought patterns when difficult situations arise. In working with clients through a CBT approach, past and current clients have been able to identify the sources of distress (i.e., anxiety) and work towards challenging these thought processes and judging if they are valid or not. With CBT, clients receive homework assignments and education on thought processes that can lead towards feelings anxious, for example.

The goal of ACT is to help clients to accept their feelings as an appropriate response to certain situations and that these feelings should not keep them from moving forward. In working with clients through an ACT approach, past and current clients have learned to accept hardships and make a commitment to fostering change in their lives. Instead of trying to “fix” clients, I work to help them change their mindset towards experiencing these feelings as a part of everyday life.

The goal of psychodynamic therapy Is to make conscious the unconscious, and to work to identify what drives our behaviors and actions. In working with clients in a psychodynamic approach, past and present clients have been able to experience an alleviation of their symptoms by being able to freely discuss their fears, challenges, fantasies, difficulties, and desires.

As a past anxiety sufferer, I have specific insight into how anxiety manifests and how crippling it can be. Anxiety has been characterized as the "common cold" in the therapy world and with good reason. My approach in helping clients is through the use of eclectic therapy which pools the best resources from many different schools of thought. With this approach, your anxiety from many different angles, which can lead to the high success rates in overcoming it.

I am a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse counselor in New York State and have worked in inpatient and outpatient substance use facilities. Additionally, I have also worked in community mental health and non-profits, and am well versed in helping individuals sustain sobriety from either a chemical addiction or process (i.e., porn, gambling, video games) addiction.

I have worked in community mental health centers with clients who have experienced depression ranging from mild-to-severe. The clients that I served would be considered some of the hardest cases available and were helped through the use of an open dialogue and structured therapeutic approach.

Anger can suddenly appear and may either be based on something that happened in the past, something that is happening right now, or a fear or anxiety about something that could happen in the future. Sometimes anger can be sudden and be caused by an underlying related condition such as depression or anxiety, or even a relationship issue. Anger is approached through helping to identify past patterns and working on the development of coping skills.
