Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from mental or physical illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth. "A state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
My Background and Approach
My goal is to help you on your path to wellness and recovery, to provide you with tools to increase psychological flexibility and to be your guide as you begin your recovery process. My therapy approach is primarily integrative, with an emphasis in health psychology, a specialty area that focuses on how biology, psychology, behavior, and social factors influence health, mind-states and illness. I blend elements from different approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy,(CBT) and Somatic work, tailoring treatment according to each person’s needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
While you can't change the difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and cope with current stressors, relationships, work through a history of difficult and/or traumatic experiences and unearth long-standing behavior patterns leading to anxiety/depression or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life and focus your energy on what is within your control.
